Welcome to the PRO-AM Winter Race Series 

The series consists of Four kayak races on the Lower Waimakariri River in Canterbury.

Race One and Race Two start at Bailes Island Picnic area. These two races are 15kms in length and on Grade One and flat water. This is the PERFECT course for those new to paddling and training for their first Coast to Coast. These two races conclude by paddling up the Kaiapoi River to the finish line under the second Bridge in the town centre.

Races Two and Three are 20kms and will start at either Miners Bank Road or The Willows. The start location will be at the Race Directors discretion and will depend on the river flow and any obstacles in the river eg willow trees. These races are ideal for those new to river paddling.

Topsport Kayaking is so passionate about kayaking and racing. We have put this series together to cater for both new and seasoned paddlers. We warmly welcome anyone new to the sport and encourage you to come along and gain some valuable experience. There is NOTHING else on the kayaking calendar that will prepare you better and keep you safe while leaning what river kayaking is all about. To all our seasoned paddlers we know and love, we look forward to hosting a race series with a twist that is guaranteed to get your heart rate up! 

The series began in 2022 with some seriously amazing support from so many paddlers. The continued support from our local paddling community to keep small events like this going is very much appreciated.
